Discipline: Social psychology, sociology

Main research fields:

  • Research of occupational socialisation, biography and life course, especially the transition from school to "Vocational Education and Training" (VET), from VET to work and the first years of work

  • Interpretative social research, especially interviewing, text analysis and integration of quantitative and qualitative methods

  • Family sociologie, especially genderspecific patterns between occupational and family plans in the first years of work

Andreas Witzel, director of the Life-Course-Archive at the Graduate School of Social Sciences (GSSS) is planning on creating a data-archive for qualitative interviews. The idea is to share resources and competence with various organizations such as the GESIS, other archives with data in German and especially with Zentralarchiv für Empirische Sozialforschung (ZA) and qualitative-research.net. In doing so the different tasks of archiving, data-service, methodological training, consulting, information, multiplication and publishing will be integrated.
