Ronald Hitzler, Thomas Bucher & Arne Niederbacher (2001). Leben in Szenen. Formen jugendlicher Vergemeinschaftung heute [Living in Scenes. Forms of Youth Communities]

Martin Spetsmann-Kunkel (Germany)

Abstract: In their book Leben in Szenen. Formen jugendlicher Vergemeinschaftung heute [Living in Scenes. Forms of Youth Communities] Ronald HITZLER, Thomas BUCHER and Arne NIEDERBACHER describe a number of "scenes"—understood as post-traditional communities, thereby contributing to our understanding of the worlds and experiences of youth in our individualistic society. The empirical insider look into these scenes also illustrates the possibilities of cultural orientation by today's youth.

Key words: scene research, individualization, post-traditional communities, scenes, event
