The optimization of internal workflows and processes is a common goal in most organizations. A solid and meaningful data base is essential to achieve this goal. Without the relevant information, change measures cannot be planned and implemented effectively. Qualitative evaluable materials are often available in company organizations. Qualitative secondary analysis is a suitable research strategy in organizational development for using these existing materials and evaluating them in relation to new questions. The aim of this article is to show possible fields of application for qualitative secondary analysis in organizational development. Qualitative secondary analysis is presented using the example of the development of an instrument for assessing the individual readiness to change of employees in child and youth work institutions, whereby existing qualitative interviews from organizational development were used as secondary materials. It has been shown that qualitative secondary analysis was a suitable strategy for the research question addressed in the study, both in terms of the results and from a research economics perspective.
