Abstract

This conference report gives an overview of the international conference: "Identity Development—Towards an Integration of Quantitative and Qualitative Methods" that took place in Braunschweig, Germany, in November 2005. The six invited speakers introduced the scope of current psychological approaches to research on identity development by means of plenary sessions and in-depth discussions about their research objectives. All contributions focused on the identity status approach, its advancements and possible alternatives. Author Biography

Holger von der Lippe, Max-Planck-Institut für demografische Forschung Rostock

Holger VON DER LIPPE studied psychology, cultural and social sciences in Berlin. He graduated and obtained a doctorate in psychology. He is currently employed at the Independent Research Group on the Culture of Reproduction at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock, Germany. His research interests are the theory and empirical study of biographical transitions in modern society; gender roles and psychological sex-differentials; and the development of personality and personal control over the life-span. In FQS he has published a contribution on "Inquiries into Men's Desire for Children" (http://www.qualitative-research.net/fqs-texte/3-03/3-03vonderlippefuhrer-e.htm) (together with Urs FUHRER).
