Abstract

Harvey SACKS is considered one of the pioneers of ethnomethodological conversation analysis. Forty years after his death, a volume has been presented in which researchers from different generations illustrate many of his central concepts and approaches in the context of their own research. Thus, this anthology is not a typical textbook for the introduction to ethnomethodological conversation analysis, but offers an overview of SACKS' rich and lasting work in research practice. In 17 contributions, sociological, linguistic, and didactic approaches, among others, are combined, and this interdisciplinary orientation proves how flexible the research program shaped by SACKS still is. As indicated by the subtitle of the volume, in addition to methodological discussions and diversity of material, readers will find inspiration for (re)discovering SACKS and his work for further development.

Dominik GERST ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Kommunikationswissenschaft der Universität Duisburg-Essen und Doktorand an der Kulturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Grenzforschung; Ethnomethodologie und Konversationsanalyse, insbesondere Membership Categorization Analysis; Wissenssoziologie; qualitative Methodologie.

Svenja Heuser, Universität Luxembourg

Svenja HEUSER ist wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Fakultät für Geisteswissenschaften, Erziehungswissenschaften und Sozialwissenschaften an der Universität Luxembourg. Der Fokus ihrer konversationsanalytischen Forschung liegt in der multimodalen Betrachtung von Mensch-Technik-Interaktion.

Maximilian KRUG ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Institut für Kommunikationswissenschaft der Universität Duisburg-Essen. Er forscht zu interaktionalen Phänomenen der multimodalen Face-to-Face-Interaktion. Sein Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf Koordinationspraktiken multipler Aktivitäten in Theaterproben.
