CALL FOR PAPERS

FQS Special Issue: The State of the Art of Qualitative Research in Ibero America

Qualitative research has expanded its presence and influence in several non-English speaking countries, collectively known as Ibero America (Spain, Portugal, Central and South America, and the countries of the Caribbean). This special issue of FQS aims to gather the rich and diverse experiences of doing qualitative research in such countries and provide to an international audience an overview of the current developments of theory, methods, and perspectives of Qualitative Research in Ibero America (QRIA).

We are particularly interested in articles that address the following issues—but other relevant contributions are also welcome:

  1. Evolution and Current State of QRIA

    • Historical development of national experiences and/or specific fields

    • Epistemological background of such experiences and/or specific fields

    • Challenges, institutional organization, and criteria of quality

  2. Approaches, Theories, and Methods of QRIA

    • Traditional and new approaches, theories, and methods

    • Application of qualitative research in various fields of research

  3. Teaching and Organizing School Experiences

    • Examples of projects

    • Emerging ideas

    • Evaluation

  4. Critical Use of Qualitative Research Practices

    • Current state of practice in qualitative research

    • Goals and strategies for further projects

    • New and emerging areas of interest

  5. Realities and Vision of QRIA

    • Perspectives and challenges for QRIA in the future

    • Biographical trajectories and educational experiences on the way to becoming a qualitative researcher

    • New and emergent issues

Deadline for abstract submission: December 15th 2005. The abstracts may be written in Spanish or English.

All contributions will be evaluated by February 15th 2006.

You will then be notified if your contribution is accepted. In this case, we would ask you to send us a full version of your text by June 15th 2006. The submitted contribution will be evaluated by the editors.

The guidelines for this FQS special issue should follow those valid Guidelines for Layout for any manuscript submitted to FQS.
